The
Lake Rescue Shootout started in 1988 as an event in which many local
boats participated simply to establish who had the fastest boat. As
the years went by it became a bigger and bigger event that also helped
supplement the Lake area Fire Departments water protection districts.
The largest unsanctioned boat race in the midwest - sponsored by the
Fire Departments in the Lake of the Ozarks area. All proceeds benefit
local Fire Department & Water Rescue teams.

Local powerboat racers escape unscathed from 80mph crash off Littlehampton beach

Cliff
Smith and Howard Standley had a lucky escape during an RYA Powerboat
race off Littlehampton on Sunday when their 28ft catamaran
‘Tubhumping’ flew into the air at 80 mph and barrel rolled three times
back into the sea in full view of holiday makers enjoying the sunshine
on the crowded Sussex beach.

AMT's 30' Sport Deck
looks like a pleasure craft on the surface, but underneath it's pure race
boat.
THE Magazine was at
the Miami International
Boat Show
and wandering
around the outside portion of the show, we walked past the AMT booth,
which had on display its
30' Sport Deck, a twin-outboard cat with a flawless cutdown deck, no
rubrail, phenomenal mold work and a seamless paint job.
Turns out it was fast
enough-and then some.
On the waters of Biscayne Bay, the AMT shot to
a top
speed of 104.6 mph at 8,200 rpm. Very cool.
It backed up that top-end
prowess with enviable midrange punch. Accelerating from 30 to 50 mph took
4.56 seconds. From 40 to 60 mph, the boat began to pack some air and the
engines came into their power band, as was evident from the 4.17-second
time.
From a standing start,
the AMT 30' Sport Deck climbed on plane in a scant 3.97 seconds, hit 25
mph in 5 seconds, 50 mph in 10 and 71 mph in 15. When the stopwatch hit 20
seconds, the AMT was scooting along at a cool 84 mph. All the while it
rode level and felt really solid, with no discernible flexing.
It didn't need much trim
to get it to run fast, less than we thought, in fact. Once it was up and
running, the AMT tracked well, earning high marks from our lead test
driver. It had a little porpoise to it down low, but it disappeared
quickly as speeds increased.
What turns we did make
with the boat required some muscle because of the manual steering, but it
carved fine, either level or exhibiting a bit of outside lean. As we
tested it, this boat works like it should, which revealed a little
something about its history.
In the AMT booth, the
boat looked new, but somehow familiar. Well, it's both. In pleasure form
it's new. In race form, it's the old Blondie and Miccosukee Indian Casino
boats. No wonder it worked so well.

Dry and Wet

AMT's 30' Sport Deck
requires a strong man who can get control the water, the woman and the
world. Gordon's is for them. For the man who makes his decision alone. For
him who can stay dry in water too.
